In the Antiquity, Saronida was an area of the Municipality of Attica, Saronikos, located on the coast of Trittya. Nowadays, it is a popular outskirt of Southeastern Attica built on the coast of the Saronic Gulf, in the wider residential complex of Lavreotiki.
The community extends from the coastal zone of Lagonisi to the slopes of the mount Olympus, all along the coastal zone of Southeastern Attica.
The city is located at an altitude of just 10 meters above the sea level, and it is surrounded by mountains.
The area, formerly called "PEFKA GIOURDTA", was renamed "SARONIS" in 1965, due to the fact that the whole area has an outstanding view to the Saronic Gulf.
The area has a significant tourist traffic due to its wide sandy beach.
